About Astrology Charts

Two people who like the sky — and don't like being sold to.

Astrology Charts is a small, stubborn project with one premise: the astronomy is a fact you can check, and the astrology is an old, beautiful story you can choose to identify with. Most sites blur those two on purpose, then ask for your email. We'd rather give you the real degrees, name the symbolism honestly, and let you close the tab with your data still on your own laptop.

Why this exists

Elena spent over a decade reading charts and kept bumping into the same problem. The good tools were precise but locked behind software most people won't install; the free web tools were easy but vague about their maths and quietly full of doom-and-grow copy designed to make you buy something. Meanwhile every one of them seemed happy to keep your birth data on a server you'd never see.

So we built the version we wanted: a proper sub-arcsecond ephemeris running in your browser, a plain explanation of what each technique actually does, and interpretations that say tradition says instead of the universe demands. It's the boring, careful approach — show the working, label the folklore, keep your data to yourself. We hope it's the one you'll actually trust.

Who's behind it

The astrologer and the astronomer

Not a content farm. Two named people who disagree about astrology and agree about doing the maths right.

Elena Marchetti

Founder & Staff Astrologer

“My job isn't to tell you who you are. It's to show you the sky you were born under, accurately — and then be straight with you about what people have made of it for four thousand years, and where I think the story gets thin.”

Elena has cast professional natal and relocation charts for fourteen years. She started the way most astrologers do — reading charts for friends at kitchen tables, then realising that the interesting part wasn't predicting anyone's future, it was the uncanny accuracy of a well-drawn wheel and the long, argumentative history behind what it's said to mean.

She writes our chart-reading methodology and the plain-language glossary entries, and she's the one who insists every interpretation be framed as a tradition rather than a verdict. She still reads strangers' charts, still keeps a battered notebook of placements that repeatedly land true, and will happily tell you when a technique doesn't hold up.

Credentials
  • 14 years casting natal, synastry and relocation charts
  • Writes the site's chart-reading methodology
  • Focus: traditional Hellenistic & medieval techniques, plus modern psychological framing
Off the clock
Half her best ideas come from doing the dishes. Deeply suspicious of anyone who sounds certain.

Dr. Amara Osei

Astronomy Reviewer

“I can't bless the meanings — that's Elena's territory, and it's a tradition, not a measurement. What I can promise you is that the degrees are right to well under an arcsecond, and that we'll tell you the moment a birth time is only a guess.”

Amara holds a PhD in astronomy and reviews every calculation method, ephemeris setting and house-system claim before it ships. She's not an astrologer; she's the person who keeps the astronomy honest, and who has a running list of popular tools that quietly get the day/night reversal or a quadrant house wrong.

She checks our positions against the same Swiss Ephemeris engine the professionals use, argues with Elena about wording that oversteps, and refuses to let any number onto a page that can't be recomputed on demand. It's a slightly unglamorous role, and it's the reason you can trust the maths even if you don't care a fig for the horoscope.

Credentials
  • PhD in astronomy; reviews all calculations before publication
  • Works with the VSOP87/ELP ephemeris and celestial coordinate systems
  • Keeper of the house-system audit — no claim ships without her sign-off
Off the clock
Still stops for Saturn through a backyard telescope, every single time.

How we write and check everything here

01Named humans, not a faceless blog

Every reading has an author and the astronomy has a reviewer. You can put a face to the words — that's the whole reason this page exists.

02We show the working

Each tool states its method: the ephemeris (sub-arcsecond astronomy (VSOP87/ELP via astronomy-engine)), the house system (porphyry quadrant houses (whole-sign available on every chart)) and the zodiac (tropical, with a sidereal (lahiri) option clearly labelled). If you disagree with a setting, you can see exactly what to change.

03Astronomy is a fact; meaning is folklore

Planet positions are measurable and we treat them as such. What a placement is said to signify is a 4,000-year-old story, and we label it as tradition — never as a prediction you can bank on.

04Verify or don't ship

We publish a number only when our engine reproduces it. No invented statistics, no backfilled examples, no figures we can't recompute on demand.

05Honest about the limits

If you don't know your birth time, the Ascendant and houses are approximate and we say so on the chart. A tool that can't do something reliably simply isn't offered as though it can.

06Corrections in the open

When we get something wrong we fix it and update the date on the page. There's a published and last-updated stamp on the long-form content for exactly this reason.

07Free, with no traps

No email wall, no paywall, no fear-based upsell after the reveal. The economics only work if the honest version is genuinely enough — so we make it enough.

What we won't do

  • We won't sell your data — we don't have any to sell.
  • We won't scare you into a decision for a click.
  • We won't dress centuries of opinion up as settled science.
  • We won't hide the maths behind a subscription.

Say hello — a real person reads it

Corrections, questions, a placement you think we've explained badly, or just the birth time your mum swears by: write to hello@astrologycharts.online. We'll answer as Elena or Amara, not as a support ticket.
